Giving Thanks in South Bend

Thanksgiving in good ol' South Bend. It's always eventful when I fly. We actually had a flight into South Bend, which is unusual because of how expensive it usually is to fly there. Our connection was through Cincinnati. It always cracks me up when you fly OVER your final destination. Maybe next time they will let me parachute down. Because I'm sooo adventurous!

We get into Cincinnati and are waiting to board our flight to SB when they announce the flight is cancelled. Our best option turned out to be to fly into O'Hare, rent a car and drive to SB. Upon in arriving in Chicago, we learned that our luggage did make the flight. It would be delivered to us eventually. At least they let us return the rental to SB airport. That was nice.
We finally arrived Tuesday night around 9:30PM, had dinner with my parents and headed over to Amy and Samantha's (my cousins) where we were crashing for the week.

Wednesday we waited until a little after 1PM for our luggage to be delivered. The rest of the day was pretty low key. Thursday (Thanksgiving) we had lunch at my Aunt Debbie's house. For our family tradition of seeing a movie on Thanksgiving evening we watched Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium. Not the most amazing piece of art, but still entertaining.
At midnight on Thanksgiving evening Alex and I decided to drive 45 minutes to Michigan City Lighthouse Outlet Mall for their "Midnight Madness" sale.

(Alex, victorious at the Nike Outlet during Midnight Madness Black Friday Shopping!)

We finally left Michigan City around 5AM on Friday. Driving home on the toll road we decided we were pretty hungry so stopped at Bob Evans for a little breakfast.

Alex crashing at breakfast at Bob Evans after no sleep from midnight shopping on Black Friday. Wow, he was tired!)

Friday (after finally getting to sleep around 7AM) we back out shopping at the local mall by 2pm. We met up with of my dearest friends from high school and church youth group for coffee Friday afternoon. Marcy was recently married and as neither of us had met the others husband, we thought the time had finally arrived! Marcy's husband is a pilot. Now I know who to call when investigating what airline to choose for future trips.

Saturday morning I had plans to attend a baby shower for one of my old roommates. Alyssa had a beautiful baby boy November 12, 2007. Addison Scott Hatfield. Also attending the shower were our two other roommates Emily Ingle and Joy Lightcap. Both Emily and Joy have little ones now, as well. Here we all are!

Saturday night the family got together for dinner and bowling. Since our camera died I only have one picture to post. We'll charge it before Christmas, promise!

Love you guys!!
